Travelling to the country side of south west Peloponnese I visited an old oil Mill. I had plenty of talk with the locals and decided to make an installation, discussing what has been a major issue of this era.
I am wondering why our civilization has this progress pace
Is it because capitalism is based on the fundamental of consumption thus continuous creation of commodities and needs?
Is something deeper, like the existential agony to live the most in a lifetime?
Is it the goal to increase power through increase of “volume”?
etc..etc…
I think it’s about time to consider changing the scene, or at least understand it can’t go much further like this.
Overpopulation,climate change,pollution, over-consumption, nuclear energy and so many other factors that decrease the quality of life and rapidly absorb the planet.
Maybe we in this interregnum era should realize that the pace of progress should drop.
Maybe it’s high time to see the planet not as antagonistic groups but through an agonistic approach.
Maybe the idea of ‘DEGROWTH’ should be seriously considered.

“Το παλαιό ελαιοτριβείο”

Ταξιδεύοντας στη νοτιοδυτική Πελοπόννησο επισκέφτηκα ένα παλαιό ελαιοτριβείο.
Μίλησα αρκετά με τους ντόπιους και αποφάσισα να πραγματοποίησω μια εγκατάσταση για να συζητήσω το θέμα που απασχολεί την εποχή μας.
Αναρωτιέμαι για το ρυθμό πρόόδου του πολιτισμού μας.
Είναι επειδή ο καπιταλισμός βασίζεται στο θεμέλιο της κατανάλωσης και επομένως στη συνεχή δημιουργία αναγκών και αγαθών?
Είναι κάτι βαθύτερο, όπως η υπαρξιακή αγωνία του να ζήσει κάποιος όσο το δυνατόν περισσότερο σε μια ζωή?
Είναι ο σκοπός αύξησης της δύναμης, μέσω αύξησης του “όγκου”?
κτλ..κτλ..
Νομίζω είναι η ώρα να σκεφτούμε να αλλάξουμε το σκηνικό, ή έστω να κατανοήσουμε ότι δεν μπορεί να πάει πολύ μακρύτερα έτσι.
Ο υπερπληθυσμός, η κλιματική αλλαγή, η μόλυνση, η υπερκατάναλωση, η πυρηνική ενέργεια και πολλοί άλλοι παράγοντες που υποβαθμίζουν την ποιότητα ζωής και γοργά απορροφούν τον πλανήτη.
Ίσως σε αυτή την εποχή της μεσοβασιλείας πρέπει να κατανοήσουμε ότι ο ρυθμός της προόδου πρέπει να μειωθεί.
Ίσως είναι η στιγμή να δούμε τον πλανήτη όχι σαν ανταγωνιστικές ομάδες, αλλά μέσα από μια αγωνιστική προσέγγιση.
Ίσως η ιδέα της “ΑΠΟΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗΣ” να πρέπει να προσεγγιστεί με σοβαρότητα.

Most recently we witnessed the turn over in Cyprus..Initially they said no, only to rethink and simply comply…
The left wing parties and the populists rushed to celebrate the great “no” to the demands of EUROGROUP while the more conservatives (I guess they knew what was going on under the table) waited…
The final decision of Cypriots was a big “YES”…
I am wondering if the nations of south EU will start begging to be “spared”..
Is this EU? It reminds me more of the Holy Roman Empire…Remember history?

“όχι..ΝΑΙ!ΧΑΡΙΣΤΕ ΤΗ ΜΟΥ ΓΙΑ ΑΛΛΑΓΗ!”
Πρόσφατα είχαμε την εμπειρία της αναδίπλωσης στην Κύπρο..
Αρχικά είπαν όχι, μόνο για να το ξανασκεφτούν και να συμμορφωθούν…
Τα κόμματα της αριστεράς κι οι ποπουλιστές βιάστηκαν να γιορτάσουν το μεγάλο “όχι” στις απαιτήσεις του Ευρωγκρούπ, ενώ οι πιο συντηρητικές δυνάμεις(Μάλλον ήξεραν τι παίζεται κάτω από το τραπέζι) περίμεναν…
Η τελική απόφαση της Κύπρου ήταν ένα μεγάλο “ΝΑΙ”..
Αναρωτιέμαι αν τα έθνη της νότια Ευρώπης θα αρχίσουν να εκλιπαρούν να τους “χαριστεί”..
Αυτό είναι η Ευρώπη?Περισσότερο μου θυμίζει την Αγία Ρωμαική Αυτοκρατορία..Θυμάσαι ιστορία?

Although the Lagarde list was containing a vast number of Greek bourgeois, the political authority made all within their power to hide it from voters. Unfortunately people don’t seem to care much bout it, as the propaganda of mass media becomes the veil of a rotten system. A global rotten system.
